South orange EMS and Rescue Squad, Inc., in recognition of their 25th Anniversary year, has made a donation of $1,000 to the Rescue & EMS Memorial Fund. The squad was formed in June 1971. The EMS Division of the Squad provides Paramedic-level ambulance service. The Rescue Division provides vehicle crash rescue, as well as Technical Rescue services, to include high-angle rescue, swiftwater rescue and confined space rescue. The squad currently has 86 active members and responds to a service area made up of northern Chatham county and Southern Orange county, to include Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina.
High Point Rescue Squad donated $1,000 to the Rescue & EMS Memorial Fund in memory of C.E. "Buggsy" Hensley. High Point Rescue continues to challenge all squads to make a $1,000 contribution to the Memorial Fund.
