    COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

It is regretful that to date, 12 squads have not filed their rosters. Another 35 were late in filing their rosters. Over 1,410 Rescue & EMS persons may have lost some or all of their benefits because the administrative officer of the department failed to carry out their responsibilities. This leaves approximately 1,410 rescue & EMS members across the state of North Carolina with no benefits because your officers failed to file your rosters.

A new legislative session has begun. If anyone has anything to bring up, please submit it to the state Rescue Legislative Committee Chairman, Johnny Pippin, or myself or any state officer. This keeps down a lot of confusion as this upcoming session will be a very busy one.

REMEMBER, GET YOUR ROSTERS INTO THE OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

    JOIN THE BROTHERHOOD!!!

    VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

As we begin a new year, many squads are electing new officers and making changes in leadership positions. When you nominate and vote for your choice, be sure to use good judgement. Don't elect officers because of popularity. These officer positions affect the financial stability, integrity, trust and even the continued existence of your organization. You must find someone who will truly accept the responsibility, be accountable for his/her actions and follow through with the duties and obligations of the job. It is not an easy task being an officer. It requires time, effort, honesty, concern, loyalty, integrity, a love of people and inner desire to help the squad succeed and move forward.

If you have been chosen for a position of leadership, you have accepted a great responsibility. You must follow through with each and every requirement of the job and assure yourself and others that no member suffers loss due to your failure to perform. I challenge each officer to uphold the highest level of honor and character in the performance of your duties.

Sometimes we at the NCAR&EMS can offer help. If you need us, call us. We pledge that same high level of responsibility and accountability that is expected of you.
