BUDDY WHITE, COMMANDER HENRY SERMONS, VICE-COMMANDER GORDON JOYNER, SECRETARY-TREASURER

OCTOBER 10, 1997

COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

We have just returned from our Convention 97' in Hickory, N.C. and it was just as delightful as I had thought it would be. Competition was intense, exciting and challenging and the teams did their best to demonstrate their skills. The staff of the N.C. Office of EMS and N.C. Department of Insurance worked many hours to put on our competition and I know everyone is proud of their accomplishments. They are to be commended.

We have a new slate of officers and committee chairpersons to start our new year off with. I will serve as your new Commander, Henry Sermons will serve as your new Vice-Commander, and Gordon Joyner will continue as Secretary/Treasurer. Henry, Gordon and I have already pledged to work together with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs for the benefit of all. The Board and Committee Chairs will begin their work by attending a workshop where we will all learn to sing the same song, out of the same song book, sing on the same page and try to sing the same tune. If we want to change the song, we will work together by deciding what song we want to sing. Hopefully, and this is the most important part, our music will be pleasing to your ears!!!

If you are interested in becoming more involved in your Association, please contact the Goldsboro office and let us know how you want to help. Together we can continue to move forward and improve Rescue & EMS in North Carolina. I thank all those persons who did so much for me by supporting and encouraging me in the months prior to the Convention. I am here because of you. Thanks again and please, please remember the Brotherhood.

VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

My first message as vice-commander is to convey to all of the rescue and EMS members my sincere appreciation for your vote. I can assure you that I will support Commander Buddy White, and that I will be ready to listen to you, the members. Many good things have happened in the NCAR&EMS, and we want to make sure that this continues. Good ideas are worth listening to, and together we can build an even better Association.

I think we had a very good convention in Hickory, and it was great to see so many of our long time friends. The exciting competition was a real treat. It showed what training and teamwork can accomplish. We need to create enough interest to attract some of our missing squads to our conventions. Let us hear your thoughts on how we can get more of our people to take part in this good exchange of fellowship and application of our skills.
