COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the many years I have served the Association as an officer.
Over the years, the demand of "time" to be a officer of the Association has increased so drastically that people with fulltime jobs have to use all their vacation days to fulfill their obligations to the Association and still lack the necessary time to complete their responsibilities. I hope that some of the changes that have been recommended to the Convention floor by the Board of Directors will help with this situation.
I wish the future officers of this great Association much success in their endeavors and if I can help you in any way, please let me know.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Convention in Hickory.

VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
Timing is one of the most important characteristics while trying to accomplish any task. Timing is a key element in Rescue & EMS; it means the difference between life and death. A comedian either makes it or breaks it on timing. If the punch line is too soon, people sit there and stare. If it is too late, people get up and walk out. Right now I'm not real sure on my timing. I don't know if you will read this before or after the Convention 97' in Hickory. Hopefully, you won't get up and walk out on me.
This has been an exciting year for me, and as we near the time for Convention I become even more excited. The N.C. Office of EMS and the N.C. Department of Insurance has worked very hard this year to assist the NCAR&EMS in some very important areas of our event. I truly appreciate their work in helping us put on a great Convention for all to enjoy. Catawba County Rescue Association has done a tremendous job in handling the various tasks that it takes to have a successful program. I hope you will find everything to your liking, and if you didn't (timing) please let us know so we can correct any problems next year.
I would ask that we all take a few moments to remember those who have gone on before us and who paved the way for us to have the Rescue & EMS system that we now have. Together, we will continue to improve our system to help ease the suffering of our neighbor.
