    COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

As we approach the Holiday Season, we in the emergency services are often reminded that we see more accidents and tragedies. Sometimes we ask ourselves why? Is it because we get caught up in a frenzied way, not taking the time to do all that we have to do? We need to take time, plan what we are going to do and do what we can today. Tomorrow will come and we can plan for another day. During the day, we need to give thanks for all that we have; for our many friends, members of our squad and enjoy them while we can. Think about the many families that are not in as good a situation as you, and do what you can to help.

    Join the Benevolent Brotherhood.

    VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

Over the past 27 years, I have had the opportunity to deliver nine Brotherhood checks to widows in our squad. One widow told me later that this money was all she had to feed herself and her kids because their bank accounts were frozen. One of the first things our squad did when we were organized in 1971 was to join the Association and the Brotherhood. During those 27 years, all of our volunteers and employees have been members of both.

During the past 32 years, the Association has paid out two million dollars in Brotherhood payments to beneficiaries of our members.

If you are not a member, please join now. Don't be left out.

As our holiday season approaches, I urge all of you to drive and party sensibly.

    Happy Holidays!
