COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

I have just walked in the door from Convention 1998 and I have to write my newsletter article. Don't want to hold up the office in its duties. I had a wonderful time in Winston-Salem and I hope those who attended did. We put together a plan and it came together and worked, thanks to a large number of squads who agreed to help at various stages of the Convention. We also could not have made it without the assistance of the N.C. Office of EMS and the Department of Insurance staffs. I can go with my duties in good conscience that we did the best we could with what knowledge and resources we had. Certainly, we will do better next year; however, for next year we will have new knowledge and new resources. Thanks again to all who helped make this convention one of the best I have attended.

VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

The 42nd annual North Carolina Association of Rescue & EMS convention is history. Held in Winston-Salem, N.C., we had over 1200 in attendance. This was the first convention that the Association HOSTED and all of the staff and the volunteers that assisted in putting it on did an outstanding job. Thank you for all that you did. OEMS Staff and DOI staff did a super job in working up the problems and planning the competition. The teams that participated displayed outstanding knowledge and professionalism in the events. The Junior Teams in BLS competition did an outstanding performance in the way they worked on the problem and displayed skills that would make you proud of them. They are the future of this organization. Benevolent Brotherhood over the past year has shown a slight increase. We need to continue to stress to our squad members the importance to them and their families of joining the Brotherhood.
