    COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

As we come to the end of another year, we should reflect back on the events of the past and plan for the future. Over the past fifteen years, our Association has worked for the benefits that we as members have today. One of the benefits that we have is the $50,000 in-line-of-duty Death Benefit. The scholarship program that we have for children of our members has assisted some to obtain an education at an institute of higher learning that would not have received one.

Another benefit available is the Fire-Rescue Pension Fund that you can participate in for only $10.00 per month. At age 55, after twenty years of service, you can receive a check; which at this time is in the amount of $146.00.

All of the benefits are yours, but if your squad roster is not submitted on time, you could lose these benefits. Check with your squad officers to make sure that they have all the information current for you. After an event happens, it is too late. We must abide by the rules and regulations that have been established for our programs.

Are you a member of the Brotherhood? If not, ask you squad captain about how you can join.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

The Fall N.C. High Angle Rescue School was recently held in Pilot Mountain, N.C. A large group of dedicated rescuers advanced their knowledge and skills. As always, the staff and instructors did an excellent job of teaching the 3 R's (ropes, rigging and rapelling). The weather could not have been ordered any better.

Remember, as "Old Man Winter" begins making his visit to our state, we need to be mindful of our rescue & EMS equipment and vehicles. All of it needs different attention than is required in summer. Don't wait until the roadways are hazardous or the temperature outside is freezing to prepare for winter.

Remember to file your rosters on time and join the Brotherhood.
