Last summer the Commander appointed several members of the Association to work on minimum Rescue Standards that a squad/department should obtain in order to perform certain rescue functions. The committee made up of individuals from across the State were very knowledgeable in the field of rescue. Several meetings were held by the individual committees and then meetings were held with the full committee on several occasions. The Standards have been mailed to all squads/departments. Please review them and let the State Office know what you think.
We still, as of this date, have some squads that have not submitted their roster for the year. This is very serious business. Check with your captain/chief to see if your squad/department roster has been submitted. If you should get hurt, injured or killed, your beneficiary might not receive the benefits that you have by being a member of the Association.
March 31st is fast approaching, that is the deadline for all scholarship applications to be received in the State Office. If someone in your squad intends to apply, do so real soon. If you do not have an application, contact Gordon as soon as possible.
It is also time to start getting these competition teams ready for BLS Competition, the Rescue Challenge and Heavy Rescue Competition that will be held in September in Winston-Salem, N.C.
