Spring is just around the corner and with that comes many opportunities. Mountain Rescue, Rescue College, plus a whole host of weekend seminars will provide us many training opportunities. Hopefully, you will be able to take advantage of several. Our General Assembly has also returned to session and is considering many items of interest. Two Pension bills have already been introduced. One raises the monthly retirement pension to $155.00, the other raises it to $200.00 a month. Our Board of Directors will look at each bill and take a position based on several factors. One of those will be input from you. If you have questions or concerns about any legislation, please contact our office.
The deadline for accepting scholarship applications is March 31, 1999. Each year we receive word from members that they did not know anything about the deadline. One of the most important programs that the Association has to offer to our members is the scholarships. Since the program began many years ago, many children of members of the Association have had the opportunity to attend college with the financial assistance from getting these scholarships. It is an excellent program. Each squad/department needs to set aside one meeting night to inform the membership about the benefits that the Association provides.
