The membership of the Association has just gone over 500 squads/departments/units, with over 19,000 members. Now if we can get the membership in the Brotherhood over 6,000, we can increase the benefits. Why can we not have over 33% of our members in the Brotherhood? It was established many years ago to assist the family of a member who needed financial help. Each member of the Brotherhood should ask and obtain one new member. It is for our benefit.
Those of you who did not join the Fire-Rescue Pension Fund when we had the last open door enrollment, you now have an opportunity to join the pension fund. Don't wait! You cannot obtain a better return on your investment than the pension fund.
VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
As the hot summer days are for the most part behind us and fall is fast approaching, Rescue and EMS departments all across North Carolina spend countless hours every year at this time standing by for local football games and fall festivals. Just as you get involved in community events, you need to be involved with local and area meetings. County Association meetings are a very good place to learn and have your ideas heard. The same goes for Area meetings. You can learn about what is going on in the Association, get updates on benefits and voice your needs and concerns to the Area Directors.
The North Carolina High Angle Rescue School for levels 2 & 3 is right around the corner. Send in your registration early.
The NCAR&EMS 44th Annual Convention is in September. If you have not already made plans to attend, you need to.
Don't forget to join the Brotherhood.
