    COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

Remember two important deadlines for March 31st. Open door enrollment for the fire and rescue pension closes and applications for scholarships for this year. Your Association tries to be responsive to all its membership. That is why we are structured the way we are. We have 22 elected officials, Commander, Vice-Commander and 2 directors from 10 different areas of the state. It is their responsibility to run the Association between conventions. They seek and take advise from the appointive Association officers which are a Legal Advisor, Medical Advisor, Chaplain, Parliamentarian, Executive Secretary/Treasurer and all standing committee chairpersons. We have standing committees on Advisory, BLS Competition, Constitution, Credentials, Finance, Legislative, Membership, Mutual Aid, Personnel, Publicity and Public Relations, Relief Fund, Rescue Competition and Resolutions. The committees have 104 people from all across the state serving on these committees. These people are appointed because of their knowledge, expertise and commitment to come to the meetings and serve the membership of the Association. From time to time additional ad-hoc committees are appointed by the standing committee chairpersons to fill a special need using the same criteria for the membership as the standing committees.

    VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

Hopefully, spring is just around the corner and that means as it has been in the past years, rescue schools are beginning to get started back up. Unless you have been really out of touch for the past while, you know there is a wide variety of rescue related classes and schools offered all across the state on any given weekend. Rescue personnel are very fortunate to be able to attend these at little or no cost. Many schools now offer a test at the end of the class for anyone who wishes to get credit for that subject towards their ERT certification.
