Honor Our Veterans on Memorial Day

Observed May 28, 2001

COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

The benefits that the Association provides for its members continues to increase and it is our sincere wish that each leader of a squad/department would so inform their members. The number of scholarships, which are awarded each year, has increased. This year, we had 218 applicants to apply for a scholarship.

The Brotherhood has increased to $4,500.00, effective April 9, 2001. We only have approximately 31% of our members who are in the Brotherhood. This is a benefit that the local squad/department should provide for their members.

Remember, the deadline dates that are coming up. August 1, 2001 for BLS, Rescue Challenge, Rescue Competition and Heavy Rescue Judges, along with early Convention Registration.

VICE-COMMANDER'S MESSAGE

The Officers and Board Members of the Association have been very busy. If you have not heard by now, the Brotherhood payment for a death increased to $4,500.00 as of April 9, 2001. Another benefit you may be involved in is a scholarship for you or your child. This year we awarded 110 scholarships for a total of $ 570,000.00. If you did not receive one, you are still on a prioritized list. If for some reason someone who did receive one decides not to attend college or drops out, the next in line is awarded that scholarship.
